1. What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To verify your identity (via OTP) and manage your account and plan |
| Judgment text you upload or paste | To generate your brief — not stored after the brief is returned |
| Usage count (briefs generated this month) | To apply free-tier limits and plan status |
| Payment confirmation from Razorpay | To activate or renew your plan — we never see your card details |
2. What we don't do
We don't store the text of the judgments you upload or paste on our servers once your brief has been generated. We don't sell your data to anyone. We don't show ads, and we don't use third-party ad trackers.
3. AI processing — please read this one carefully
Your judgment text is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate your brief. We are currently using Gemini's free tier, and Google's standard terms for that tier mean your prompts may be used to help improve their models. This is a real, current limitation we want to be upfront about, not hide in fine print. Once we move to a paid Gemini plan — which we intend to do as the product grows — this changes, and we'll update this page the moment it does.
If this matters to you for a specific judgment, we'd suggest waiting until we confirm the upgrade, or using publicly available judgment text only.
4. Other services we use
- Resend — sends the OTP code to your email. Doesn't see your judgment content.
- Razorpay — processes payments. Doesn't see your judgment content.
- Cloudflare — hosts our backend. Standard infrastructure provider, doesn't access your content beyond passing it through.
5. Local storage on your device
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits, so you don't have to verify your email every time. This stays on your device and isn't sent anywhere except back to our own servers when you use the service.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing us. We'll confirm once it's done.
7. Children's use
RatioBrief is intended for law students and legal professionals, generally 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If how we handle data changes — especially the Gemini point above — we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
